I like the suit a lot and would not go back to the original for anything.
The suit gleams in the light and really manages to fit in well with the games many dark and opressive environments. While the suit seems to be purely aesthetic, it does provide 10% better health and 10% more inventory space. Since I am playing on the PS3, I was able to download the "Obsidian Suit" which is a metallic black version of the original suit with dark blue helmet lights. I went ahead and downloaded mine yesterday and slapped it on the see if it was worth it and here are my thoughts. After that 2 week period is over, players will have to pay 2.49 for the suit. For those who bought the game early however, PSN and Xbox Live are offering 2 exclusive suits (1 for each platform) that can be downloaded for free within the first two weeks of the games release. Its design is complex and sleek and definitely plays a big role in the games style and excellent art direction.
First of all, the basic suit that Isaac starts with looks cool already. So I am working hard to play through Dead Space as we speak and decided to take a quick break to give my impressions of the extra suits that can be unlocked in the game.
